Kay Feeney

Kay’s wisdom and experience are much sought after as a mediator in property disputes between separated couples. She applies a lateral thinking capacity to disputes often considered intractible by others and has a good record for coming up with solutions acceptable to both parties.

Some of Kay’s relevant Training and Experience is as follows:

  • Registered Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner with the Attorney General’s Department and able to issue s60I Certificates under The Family Law Act 1975 
  • Nationally Accredited Mediator
  • High School Teacher in Queensland prior to studying Law
  • Admitted as a solicitor in 1985
  • First practised at Robertson O’Gorman and became a partner in the firm, practising in Criminal and Family Law
  • Moved to Phillips Fox as a Family Law Specialist in 1992
  • Member of the Social Security Appeals tribunal which has enhanced knowledge and understanding of Centrelink issues including those relating to Family Law matters
  • Held contracts as a Senior Case Officer within the Child Support Agency and developed a great depth of understanding of the complex Child Support Legislation and its implementation.
  • Expert in mediating Child Support disputes
  • Member of the Migration Review Tribunal further developed knowledge of Administrative Law
  • Conducted Conciliation Conferences for the Federal Circuit Court at Relationships Australia
  • Worked in Family Law at Cooper Grace Ward from 1996 and became Special Counsel / Accredited Specialist in Family Law
  • Currently Principal of Feeney Family Law
  • Interested in and committed to Mediated Outcomes wherever possible and appropriate
