Vale Patrick Wedge
Last evening we received word that our esteemed colleague and mediator, Patrick Wedge had passed away after his long battle with motor neuron disease. Patrick will be sadly missed by his loving family, many friends and colleagues and all who knew him. Patrick's funeral will be held at St Kevin's, Geebung, on Monday 4 December at 10am. At our request, our Brisbane Mediations panellist and friend, Tom Stodulka, who was a also a close friend and colleague of Patrick, has penned the following tribute to Patrick.
Some Words of Tribute to Patrick Wedge by his close friend and colleague Tom Stodulka.
“Another very dear friend Patrick Wedge has said his farewells after almost three years battling MND.
He was an inspiration to all who knew him. Patrick embraced the role of mediator 8 years ago with a deep passion, infectious enthusiasm and commitment. He loved working with his clients, his fellow mediators and his students.
Patrick was quickly embraced within the mediation community. Some years ago Patrick established the Conflict Resolution Centre. He was also a proud member of the Queensland Law society ADR Committee, Brisbane Mediations, the Resolution Institute and several other ADR panels. Many of us would meet with him during coaching and assessing new mediators and be able to share ideas and debrief after a difficult mediation.
Patrick continued to show great interest in what was happening around the traps even till his last days. Patrick showed amazing courage and strength and will be sorely missed by those fortunate enough to have known him. Rest in peace dear Patrick.”
