Parenting Disputes
Protecting What Matters Most: Your Children
When parents separate, agreeing on what is best for their children is often the most difficult challenge they face. At Brisbane Mediations, our Registered Family Dispute Resolution Practitioners (FDRPs) provide a neutral, safe environment to help you reach agreements that focus on your children’s needs while respecting your role as a parent.
Why Choose Mediation Over Litigation?
- Reduce Emotional Trauma: We understand the deep distress of “relinquishing time” and the fear parents feel after a split.
- Protect Your Children: We help you shield your children from the damage of high-conflict disputes.
- Preserve Your Future: Litigation is emotionally and financially draining; mediation preserves your property pool and your ability to co-parent effectively.
- Expert Guidance: Work with Brisbane’s most experienced family mediators to create a practical, “child-friendly” resolution you both can live with.
Understanding the Section 60I Certificate
Under the Family Law Act, parents are generally required to make a “genuine effort” to resolve parenting disputes via mediation before applying to the court.
- Expert Authority: All Brisbane Mediations mediators are Registered Family Dispute Resolution Practitioners (FDRPs) authorized to issue these certificates.
- When is it issued? We provide a Section 60I certificate if the other party declines to attend, if the matter is assessed as not suitable for mediation, or if a genuine effort was made but a resolution wasn’t reached.
- Your Next Step: If mediation is unsuccessful or the other party refuses to engage, this certificate allows you to proceed with a court application.
