Property Disputes
Division of property after separation or divorce has the potential to cause tremendous angst for both parties. Long held dreams might have been shattered, there might be differences of opinion as to who contributed most to the accumulation of assets and there could be genuinely held fears and concerns about how there will be enough property for both to carry on a lifestyle which approaches that enjoyed pre-separation.
At Brisbane Mediations, we have experienced property mediators, many of whom are currently practising as solicitors and barristers in the family law arena or who are social scientists with a special interest and expertise in the field of property dispute resolution. They all have a passion for assisting clients to resolve their property disputes amicably – whether these disputes are fairly straightforward or highly complex.
Sometimes couples need assistance in making pre-nuptial or co-habitation agreements in the early stages of – or during – their relationships. This is another area with which Brisbane Mediations can assist.
Parties to property mediation in family matters, especially where the facts are complex, may prefer to have an initial consultation with a Family Lawyer prior to mediation. We also recommend preliminary attention to valuing assets and reaching agreement as to the property pool if possible.
We remind potential clients that they are welcome to bring their lawyers along to our mediations.
